Chic University of Cosmetology was established over 45 years ago in Michigan, and later was acquired by the school division of the Regis Corporation. In 2007, the school division of Regis merged with Empire Beauty Schools to form one of the largest networks of cosmetology schools in North America - Empire Education Group.

The three Chic locations in Michigan focus on cosmetology and cosmetology teacher training, and since 2007 are members of Empire Education Group's 87 schools in 18 states.

Chic's 1600 hour Cosmetology program trains students on the fine art of hairstyling, cutting, coloring, and more. The program also offers students the opportunity to learn more about the business for a well-rounded education.

The 600 hour Cosmetology Teacher Training program allows students to incorporate their cosmetology skills and apply those to a curriculum teaching future students.
