During Empire Beauty School’s grand re-opening of their newly remodeled school during January in Chandler, Arizona, students displayed their creativity and skills during a hair competition.
The students chose a winter carnival theme to create their designs
around, using vibrant colors. “It was a great way for the students to showcase their talents to the local salons,” said Vice President of Industry Relations, Dorothy McKinley-Soressi.
Students formed teams of five to collaborate on their hair designs and styles. The first place winners designed a carnival concession theme. Their model displayed cotton candy-like hair and was adorned with popcorn and lollipops to give the illusion of a carnival confection. The second place winners incorporated more vibrant and explosive colors with their model's nails
and hair which was created with weaves.
Judges for the competition came from area salons as a local radio station hosted a live broadcast at the school.
