2009 Grammy Stars Rock New Looks on the Red Carpet

The 2009 Grammy’s rocked some incredible hairstyles as the stars stepped out for an eventful night.Katy Perry was likely one of the night’s most noticeable stars when she arrived in a bubble gum pink gown complemented with bubble gum pink lipstick and stunning dramatic eye shadow. Perry sported a 1940s era hairstyle to complete her look.

Taylor Swift arrived with a low, tousled chignon and subtle makeup. To achieve Taylor’s cat-like eyeliner, use a liquid liner for precise lines near your lashes and add a few coats of mascara for volume.

Jennifer Hudson arrived with a sleeked back ponytail with subtle lips but dramatic eyes. Beauty experts advise highlighting only one feature to avoid looking overdone. Pair smoky eyes with neutral tones for your lips and cheeks, or make a statement with dark or vibrant lipstick and subtle or barely-there eye shadow. Later that evening, Hudson’s ponytail was tucked and pinned underneath for a slick bun for her performance during the show.

Miley Cyrus opted for neutral peach tones with her makeup but showcased a mature French twist with a side ponytail. Ponytails can easily go from sporty to chic with a few tricks. They can be slick and straight or tousled with some added curls for a romantic twist.

Carrie Underwood unveiled a puffy ponytail with soft strands and loose pieces contouring her face when she arrived at the Grammy’s, and complimented her sophisticated look with smoky eye shadow and pale lipstick.

The Jonas Brothers made an entrance with their usual curly and straight hairstyles. Nick and Kevin Jonas arrived sporting their layered curls. To make natural curls look polished and defined, hairstylists recommend using a gel or a pomade to accentuate and smooth voluminous natural locks. To achieve the straight, choppy look of Joe Jonas, use a pomade and a slim flat iron to feature those piecy strands and style a side part.
